Testimonials from Our Customers and Friends
At Shiver Shield we believe our products should be able to stand on their own quality and most importantly thermal performance. That is why at Shiver Shield we do NOT pay hunters, television personalities, field testers, or other professionals to wear our garments to obtain testimonials or to generate increased sales by association with those that require high dollar sponsorships. Unfortunately, many professionals have also signed exclusivity agreements with companies that also prevent them from using our products and bottom line is we would have to offer them more money to get them to use our products. Our philosophy is far from the norm, but by avoiding these extremely expensive sponsorships, this allows us to keep our costs down, which allows us to sell our garments at a lower than expected price and translates into direct savings to our customers. We believe that all of this makes our testimonials very honest, sincere, and worthy. After trying our products, the performance and quality of Shiver Shield was enough reason for them to simply give us their opinions. They believe that Shiver Shield is like nothing they have ever worn and offers the user something incredibly innovative and revolutionary. |

I hunted Illinois this weekend in 10 degrees with 30 mph winds and snowing. Jacket and pants worked great! I only wore 1 layer of fleece underneath and was comfortable all weekend. Great product!!! My hunting buddies laughed at me and said that I was going to freeze. I got the last laugh because they had on 4 extra layers and could hardly move. Looking forward to next season! Doug Matthews Georgia I wanted to take a quick second to tell you that something funny happened to me this weekend. I was able to use a product that actually did what it said it would. I put on my new Shiver Shield vest with a t-shirt and a light jacket and it was 24 degrees! The vest was awesome. I couldn't even feel a wind draft going 50 on ATV! I am excited about your product. I can't wait to get myself some new hunting gear!!! I can only imagine what it will be like to hunt and actually be warm! Tim Jones - Doc J Doc's Wildlife Blends, LLC As for your product, it is spectacular. I own it all (almost), KOM, Rivers West, Sitka, etc. It has become the most important piece of hunting clothing I use. Thank you again, I just cannot state how impressed I am with your product(s). Back in the days when there weren't to many options of hunting clothing. So like everyone else I would put several layers of clothing on and still be cold. ( I sit all day .) To continue the sport I love, I have purchased several types of cold weather clothing some better than others. I am so glad I purchased the Shiver Shield jacket. It is what I have been looking for. For once a jacket that does what it claims. It just keeps you warm. This jacket is light comfortable and does not restrict my movements, it is truly the warmest jacket I ever put on.
Arthur Miriana I had an opportunity to wear Shiver Shield during one of the coldest hunts I have been on... (read more) It was at the end of the South Dakota muzzleloader season. I had been watching a nice 10 point whitetail traveling along an area that I hunt and was hoping I could catch him on one of the last remaining days of the season. Brian McFarlane from Shiver Shield had given me a jacket and pant set to try on my hunt. He said they would be warm and to only wear one base layer or I would get too hot. I was a bit hesitant to believe that they could keep me warm as it was only about 12 degrees and the winds were blowing 20-30 mph from the NW and I was going to be hunting in an exposed tree stand along a fence line so I wore a few extra layers. To say the least I didn’t make it to my tree stand without removing the extra layers! Once I had the extra layers off, I was able to stay in the tree stand until dark and stayed warm. I was impressed with the heat retention and wind proof properties that Shiver Shield offers. I have hunted most of my life and can say that I have never worn hunting garments that kept me anywhere near this warm in conditions anywhere near this cold and windy. I never did get that 10 point buck, but I didn’t get cold trying either! You can bet I will be wearing Shiver Shield next winter so I don’t miss that opportunity when that buck does show up.
Rich Mercer Outdoor Retail Specialist South Dakota Since I started wearing Shiver Shield, it has become the key to me surviving the cold without the multiple bulky layers that I have become accustomed to wearing... (read more) Making a living by bow hunting, I need every advantage I can get and getting rid of restrictive bulky layers gives me the advantage to be ready and able to shoot when the unexpected opportunity presents itself. During the 2010 hunting season I used Shiver Shield extensively in all my hunts from Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado to New Zealand and British Columbia, Kansas and even Texas! You might not think Shiver Shield is designed or intended for hunting in Texas, but it was some of the coldest hunting conditions I have ever experienced in Texas! Throughout the year, I hunted in conditions that ranged from mild and chilly to darn right painfully cold. As an example, in Kansas the actual temps got down to 5°F and the wind chills were as low as -15°. I could not have withstood these extreme conditions and stayed in my tree stand as long as I did without my Shiver Shield vest. Yes I said vest! I was not wearing a Shiver Shield coat or pant. Throughout the entire cold season, my clothing attire consisted of a moisture wicking base layer, a wind stopper polar fleece top, a Shiver Shield vest, and a Scent-Lok Clima Fleece fall suit. That is all I wore, even during the blistering Kansas hunt. As it turned out, I had one of the best seasons in many years. I was successful in taking two bull elk that scored 320 and 352, a 370 Red Stag, multiple mule deer and whitetails, and an antelope. When I get home from my hunts, I do not put my Shiver Shield away; I wear it all the time! I wear it when I go to town, when I go outside around the house, when I travel, in fact I am not too sure when I don’t wear it! It is the warmest garment I have ever owned and will continue to wear Shiver Shield as long as I am doing anything in the cold. When I had the first opportunity to field test Shiver Shield I was pretty sure that they had come up with something very innovative and unique to offer, but after wearing it for the last two years, I now know it is very different from the other garments available and it is definitely extremely warm. If I didn’t think it was the warmest stuff I have ever worn, I wouldn’t have offered the above testimonial. I will only have my name associated with high quality products that perform as they are intended and Shiver Shield is unquestionably one of those products. If you ever get cold, you need to try this stuff. Phil Phillips Since I was introduced to Shiver Shield it has made for the most comfortable cold weather hunting I have ever experienced in my life... (read more)With Shiver Shields technology, I wore less under garments and had more mobility than any other gear on the market today. I was able to hunt comfortably even when temps approached -20 below. Shiver Shield definitely kept the warm in and the cold out. Even in sub zero temperatures Shiver Shield keeps me warm from the beginning when I reach my stand till the end when I climb down. It has made an all day hunt relaxing and comfortable. Thanks Shiver Shield for keeping me in the woods no matter what mother nature throws my way!
Snuffy Gifford Co-Host of Campfire Stories I have been working with Brian and Becky from Shiver Shield for just over 2 years now... (read more) Through the process I have seen and test many examples. Shiver Shield has always had one goal, to make extreme weather garments that are built with comfort and quality. And with the last prototypes I took to the field they have finally accomplished that mission. During Iowa’s late season Muzzleloader I often take to the field in subzero temps and this year was no different. On one occasion I headed out for an afternoon hunt with sleet falling, Ice on the ground and wind chills exceeding 20 below. When I dressed outside my truck the thought crossed my mind “well this is the test Shiver Shield has been waiting for”! I placed my jacket on and began my 500 yard walk through an open been field to my stand location. Less than 200 yards into the walk my face and ears were frozen, my feet were chilled, but I found myself stopping! Why was I stopping, I had to, I had to take a moment to unzip my coat! Shiver Shield was holding in the heat and I was quickly realizing I need air so I didn’t get too hot!
Upon reaching my stand I sat patiently waiting for that moment I could not bear the temps any longer and knew I would have to leave. The strange part was I didn’t feel cold. I sat and sat, darkness fell and I never felt cold at any point. As I unzipped and started the walk back to the truck I realized that one of the most difficult equations of hunting had been solved. Finally a product that gives me warmth, without layers, and mobility to enjoy my hunt! My name is Andy Weichers and I am host of Campfire Stories, so sitting in the elements is more than a passion for me, it’s my job! With Shiver Shield, I don’t have to dread the cold, I can enjoy it! Thanks to Brian and Becky for designing the highest quality Cold Weather garment on the market! When the weather turns nasty and others turn to TV, I’ll turn to Shiver Shield, and you’ll find me enjoying the outdoors! Andy Weichers Host of Campfire Stories Campfire Media Group While hunting in North Central Colorado this fall it was very hot during the day and the bulls were just started to bugle... (read more) The hunt had been relatively unsuccessful for the first 4 days, but on the 5th day my fortune changed. It started early in the days with multiple bulls bugling throughout the timber. So I headed off after several bulls that seems to be very responsive and vocal. After nearly a two mile trek of sneaking, and occasional jogging through timber around sage ridges and through aspen groves, I encounter several smaller bulls, but unfortunately not the right bull. As luck would have it, I got busted crossing a sage covered knoll that had very little cover. By now it was late morning and I literally had sweat running down my back. The sun was starting to burn down and I decided to begin still hunting my way back for my midday return to camp to cool off and prepare for a cooler evening hunt. Not 50 yards into the nearby timber, I bugled and a bull immediately responded. I ran about 100 yards downward towards the bulls direction and bugled again and he immediately bugled back, but obviously much closer. I was at the edge of a small grass covered opening in the timber and I could see a large cattle path crossing at the bottom, so as I stepped around a small "Charlie Brown" Christmas tree, I saw the bull heading my way only 30-40 yards away and I could tell he was a shooter. He was on the move and I didn't have much time so I drew my bow back as I could see an antler coming through the limbs of the trees. He stepped out at only 8 yards and almost straight down wind of me. As soon as he entered the clearing, he stopped and looked directly at me trying to figure out what I was. All my pins where in his kill zone and I immediately released my arrow. The rest was history and I had harvested my first North American Elk, a very respectable 6x6 bull.I am a firm believer in personal hygiene and odor control for hunting all types of big game. I personally don't believe you can ever eliminate all human odor, especially in hot arid hunting conditions, but you can attempt to put as many factors in your favor as possible. I believe that if I hadn't washed my clothes in TKO and applied it to my clothes and gear prior to my 2009 elk hunt, the bull would have immediately detected me and busted out without an ethical shot opportunity. I had multiple elk on this trip downwind within 20 yards of me. I also used TKO during my fall Whitetail hunt in Nebraska and had many deer come literally within feet of my treestand. I believe the industrial power of TKO makes it an very important tool in your arsenal against human odors and can give you that additional edge in your next big game hunt. If I didn't believe in it, I wouldn't associate my name with it. Brian McFarlane Developer of TKO I recently had the opportunity to test Shiver Shield. And what a catchy name! (read more) The product has a new revolutionary insulation, which is very different from the insulations currently used in the hunting industry. The manufacturer reported to have some unbelievable heat retention properties with extremely thin layers of insulation. In fact the insulation is so warm the maximum thickness is only 3mm. I have to admit I was somewhat skeptical that it could perform to their claims. When I first received my trial prototype vest it was obvious that it did not have the customary “bulky” loft insulation that garments typically have. Immediately after receiving the vest, I had to give it a quick trial in the cooler at my “Beer Cave” retail store. The coolers are maintained at a constant 27 degrees, obviously below freezing, but I am known for selling the coldest beer in town! It really kept my mid-section warm for the 20-30 minutes I sat there on a case of beer staring at my inventory of enjoyable beverages. The next morning I headed out for what turned out to be a successful black bear hunt in British Columbia. Each morning on our hunt we would travel by boat anywhere from 10-15 miles at 20-30 mph in temps ranging from upper 30’s to low 40’s. The weather varied from damp and scattered rain to partly cloudy and sunny. I wore a base layer and the Shiver Shield vest under a windstopper fleece pullover. The vest performed extremely well. It kept me remarkably warm and dry as claimed. As for the other two guys on the hunt, I let them use my extra coat on the boat rides because I didn’t need it! Shiver Shield has something unique and innovative to offer the archer, the outdoorsman or anyone else that will be spending time in the cold. I am very excited about this new product line and anxiously awaiting a full set of Shiver Shield gear to wear in my tree stands this fall and winter, especially on my northern hunts. I highly recommend the Shiver Shield products to anyone at all who plans to be involved in any outdoor fall and winter activity. Phil Phillips We would like to thank Phil for having the confidence in our product to field test it on his bear hunt and congratulate him on his great trophy. Its hide measured 7' 4" and it had a 20" skull. Nice fish also! We truly believe that you also will be a believer of Shiver Shield once you have had the opportunity to use it in the field. |
