After using their coat for 2 occasionally brutal deer seasons, I had been waiting and hoping that Shiver Shield would come out with gloves/mittens. I finally got a chance to use them last week just in time for late bow season. The temps got down to -14 with a fairly good breeze to boot. From a warmth standpoint, there is nothing I have tried that is even close. It took about an hour on stand in those conditions before my fingers started getting a little chilled. To put that in perspective, I had to take them off to do some finer dexterity stuff. It was so cold that within a couple of minutes, I couldn’t feel my fingers. The 2 downsides to them is 1) the material is a little stiff making it difficult to grab smaller objects and 2) I wish they were just mittens without the flap (Hint, hint). It was a little difficult to get the flap back into good position at the corners, and was especially difficult on the mitt you put on last with the lack of dexterity from the mitt on the other hand. All that being said, these are amazing for bitter cold activities when you don’t need fine manipulation i.e. sitting on stand, snowmobiling, shoveling, etc. They are going to make Xmas shopping a lot easier next year!
